There was some big irony to be taken out of all of it, that much was painfully certain. While their marriage had been somewhat on the stable side, they hadn't managed to conceive a child. But now, when both of them were getting ready to continue with their lives, to the best of their abilities... it had happened. The man couldn't pretend that he wasn't happy by the thought, he'd always wanted to be a father, yes, but he'd always wanted to have a child with her. This felt like a late, cruel present. And a lot like a second chance. "No, I'm glad you told me," he relented, taking his glasses off. "This isn't what I expected either, Nadia. But you know... You do know that I want this child, right?" 'And I want you.' But he wasn't sure if he should tell her that yet.

Hernando wasn't usually an anxious person but as soon as his car had crossed back within the Tonopah Valley town limits he had felt like his heart was pounding. It was hard for him to believe he could have a life here after the past two months but this is where his family was, where the people he loved were and he was going to do anything to be near them again. Including something he would never have done with his heart entrenched in the work of Los Santos. It was hard to believe things had shifted as it had. That he was free in a way, no longer under the control of someone who threatened everything he wanted in life. He was of course still looking over his shoulder and he had been sleeping like shit but he was hopeful. For the first time in a really long time he was hopeful. Still, his heartbeat felt like it didn't slow as he pulled into the parking lot of the spot the Detective had told him to meet her at. He took a deep breath as he got out of the car and saw her do the same. "Detective Zahedah," he said with a nod, having only reached out to her because they had met through Tony once upon a time. "Beautiful day we're having here, huh?" @nadiazahedah

Thea: better than she would give herself credit for, but she's just not the parental type. makes a great aunt tho. 5/10.

Makarius: he can't even take care of himself properly. great fun uncle, but to teach someone to be a functional adult, you should probably be one yourself. 3/10.

Falk: at the beginning of the novel easily a 1/10; after his character arc he would feel overwhelmed at first but probably grow into it over time. 6/10.

Nadia: no. just no. -2/10.

Alexander: lets be honest the only one out of the bunch who would make a great parent and also the only one who aspires to be one. 10/10.

nadia never imagined that she would be there. especially considering what was supposed to be happening the next day. part of her still couldn't believe that she was getting married. it was something that she had never imagined happening. she was inhaling sharply as she glanced over," i don't know what i'm doing, i don't-i'm-" she felt helpless as their lips met and she found herself returning the kiss. her heart pounding," i'm-i'm getting married tomorrow."

Gritting her teeth hard enough she felt like they could crack, Savannah stared her partner down. 'What would that even matter if he took you down with him, hm?' She shot back. She'd already lost one partner in her career. Losing another would be too much. 'You're reckless Nadia. It's a hazard.'

On a Saturday morning, Ella would usually be sleeping in as much as possible. But considering they weren't in their own bed, they had woken up with a start, turning over to find Nadia sound asleep next to them. It brought a slight smile to their face before they felt the pounding of their head and groaned. They tried to slowly get out of bed as to not disturb he and slowly gathered their clothes. But they weren't actually inclined to rush off, too tired and too in need of coffee for that. That and when they tried to tip toe out of the bedroom, they immediately ran into Nadia's kids in the hallway. "Oh, hey dudes uh...you guys got cheerios?" A short introduction but soon enough they were seated with the little ones on the couch, watching morning cartoons, all three of them with hilariously big bowls of cereal. "Oh your tastes are immaculate little ones, teen titans go is my sh-my stuff," they told them, spooning another mouthful of cereal before they heard Nadia coming down the hallway. "Morning sunshine," they told her with a grin, "Me and my new besties were just taking in some quality tv. I made coffee if you want some." @nadiazahedah

Nadia gets tasked with building a better social media presence for her department, because she can't be bothered with that kind of bullshit she hires Makarius (the youngest and hip-est person she knows off the top of her head) as a social media manager, he opens a TikTok channel for the Department for Cases with Magical Involvement where he has a series that consists of Falk very flatly explaining various magical creatures and phenomena, it becomes wildly popular, Nadia hates every second of it
